Consumerism can be seen as a truly unhealthy social trend. It’s essentially capitalism at its most extreme! As consumers, we are constantly bombarded with advertisements. We are pushed to believe that we can get “more for less” or that we can get deals after deals after deals.
The sheer volume of plastic pollution in the world today is massive. Plastic cannot degrade, and therefore, its toxicity continually wrecks havoc on oceans, animals, waterways, and people. It is expected that by 2050, the seas will have more plastic than fish by weight.
