Waste: who would have ever thought it would be a boomerang?

Capitalism has become established as the main lifestyle in the western world, and elsewhere around the globe. In other words, we are consumers. Most of us buy and spend every day, and as a consequence, there is an overload of disposable waste, which ends up cluttering our planet. Every week, something as simple as buying your groceries can produce so much plastic waste! Just think of all the packaging materials that you are discarding!

The bad news is, waste is actually coming back to affect you in so many ways. For instance, all the plastic we throw away ends up in the ocean. Over the years, it breaks down into microplastics in the sea. Small fishes and sea creatures ingest such microplastic, introducing in the food chain. The bigger animals eat the small fishes, poisoned with these harmful plastics, and guess who is at the top of the food chain? That’s right, you!

That delicious tuna melt sandwich you’ve enjoyed the other day probably featured plenty of dangerous mercury from plastic pollution in fish. To fight all of this and more, it’s important to achieve a sustainable lifestyle, with less waste, and less pollution. A well-managed supply chain can be the way to go!
